I’m Katy, and this is the new re-incarnation of my original food blog Katy’s Kitchen. I started baking as a child under my mom’s loving wings, and cooking followed a little later on. I’ve had numerous jobs in restaurants both in the front and back of house, though I haven’t had any formal training in cooking. I was hired for my first bakery job by bringing a plate of cookies and unknowingly bribing my way in. No joke.
Baking is in my blood. I get a funny “itchy feet” feeling if it’s been too long since I’ve made brownies or a chocolate cake. I rarely make the same thing twice. Except, of course, when it’s chocolate cake.
This blog baby was born in February 2013, when I began a writing job that has been my favourite job to date. Around the same time, I created a radio show with my partner called Food Fight! that’s currently on hiatus.
I still work as a freelancer (you can find some my most recent work here) and at a restaurant, and blogging fits somewhere in-between all that. I’m an avid feminist, queer, and an LGBT rights advocate, so if you follow me on Twitter you’ll often see me promoting equal rights.
